Mark Amaya specializes in software process consulting, metrics, training, tools, and assessments. He has over twenty years of practitioner and management experience in software development and process improvement at both large and small companies. Over the last nine years, he helped start three software engineering process groups in two large companies and has consulted directly on projects enabling them to achieve levels 2, 3 and 4 ratings. He has consulted in process improvement internationally in the United States, South America, and the Far East. He has completed both the CMM-Based Appraisal (CBA) Internal Process Improvement (IPI) Lead Assessor training and the Software Capability Evaluation (SCE), Version 3.0 training. He has participated and led both types (IPI and SCE) of assessments and evaluations and has taught both types of team training. He is a SEI authorized lead assessor, SEI ID No. 9400776-A.
He has participated on the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) Metrics Working Group that created some of the metrics methods and documents used by both industry and the U. S. Government. He is on the steering committees of both the Los Angeles Software Process Improvement Network (SPIN) and the Southern California SPIN, as well as the Chairman of the Southern California SPIN Metrics Working Group. He has degrees in engineering and business management.
